The Maryland Public Service Commission, as part of its “Future of Gas” proceedings has said that new customers wishing to extend gas service lines to their properties will foot the bill. Previously, customers were connected for free or at a discount, essentially subsidized by existing customers. The PSC said that encouraging more natural gas production is inconsistent with the Climate Solutions Act passed in the state and new customers should pay the actual cost of obtaining the service.
