A program launched by the state of Maryland to employ federal workers who have lost their jobs is now on hold. Governor Moore launched the program to help those laid off by the Trump administration – Maryland so far has lost over 12,000 federal jobs. That program came to a halt this week after pushback from mostly Republicans saying it was hypocritical to be hiring anyone if the state had a hiring freeze in effect. Data on the hiring program showed that only 17 former federal employees had been hired by the state since February.
