Garrett County Planning and Land Management is advising landowners to proceed carefully when approached to sign land easement agreements. These agreements may allow companies access to private land for transmission lines, towers, substations and access roads. The agreements often come with long-term rights and may significantly impact land use, farming, and property value. Legal counsel is urged before entering into any contracts.
