Maryland’s Comprehensive Assessment Program found improvement in Allegany County schools this past year. The county surpassed state levels in 15 of 21 testing areas. The county has also seen a 4% increase in graduation rates. Trina Simpson, Supervisor of Assessments for county schools, says English results were steady, but math saw a decrease that is being investigated..
“Math across the state – not just Allegany County – does decrease every year in proficiency. The state is looking at it. We are looking at it. They are in the midst though of revamping some of the math tests which we feel might be more of test issue.”
