Mission Director Sees Hope In Trump Order

July 31st, 2025 by WCBC Radio

President Trump’s executive order designed to get the homeless and drug-addicted off America’s streets has met with consternation in some circles. But, Pastor David Ziler who runs the Union Rescue Mission, sees it as an opportunity to get people the help they need.  He told WCBC that the way Salt Lake City works with the homeless could be a model for giving help…

“They send out a team of people and when you go into Salt Lake, you don’t see homeless people. Because they go around with a team of people and there’s the head of the homeless shelter, the head of recovery programs, and the police chief. And they go around and say ‘you’re going to walk in a door today; it’s not compassion to let you freeze out here tonight – you’re going to walk in a door. You get to decide which one it is.’”
