Maryland Governor Wes Moore was one of the main speakers this past weekend at the 2025 Human Rights Campaign annual dinner in Washington D.C. The Governor spoke on state efforts to preserve human rights for all citizens saying that Maryland has doubled funding for hate crime protection as well as expanding gender-affirming care. Moore said no one should have to justify their humanity in Maryland…
“And we have to ensure that our words are then backed up by actions and that we know we have to have laws that are then there to protect us. Because as Dr. King once said, laws can’t change the heart but laws can protect me from the heartless.”
