Following the death of a family’s pet in South Cumberland due to an attack by loose dogs, attention is being directed to animal control laws as well as the role of the animal control officers in the county. Becky McClarran of the Allegany County Animal Shelter Foundation says their group is already working with lawmakers to tighten up control laws and would like to see the shelter’s officers receive more education around their roles…
“We are looking in to getting them more training. They go out on at least 8 to 10 calls a day. Do I think they need to have more training? Absolutely.”
