Ongoing construction can be seen at the site of Washington Middle School in Mapleside. Recently, Allegany County Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano spoke to WCBC about the project that’s being built to get more young children into class sooner. “We’re adding on a major construction addition there that will house an early childhood center because we want more of our students in school earlier so that we can take advantage of the good instruction so they can begin to learn how to read.”
