Ovarian Cancer Affects 1 in 90 Women

It’s the seventh most common cancer seen in women, and one of the hardest to diagnose. Ovarian cancer continues to elude medicine as being able to detect early or treat successfully. Dr. Beth Jelinek of UPMC Western Maryland Obstetrics and Gynecology tells WCBC that ovarian cancer can happen to teenagers, but mainly affects women in their 60s, 70s, and 80s.  There are a few symptoms that may indicate further testing is needed…

   

“These include things like pelvic pain, abdominal pain or distension, abdominal bloating, change in urination, difficulty eating, decreased appetite, feeling full early after just starting a meal, weight loss, and vaginal bleeding.”
