A main focus for the new City of Cumberland Police Chief is addressing the opioid crisis in the area. For many years, Chief Jim Pyles worked as the Regional Commander of the Combined Criminal Investigations unit, so he is familiar with the problems of fentanyl, meth, and heroin on the streets. He says his first point of attack is always to educate which he does by visiting and speaking at schools…
“So, I do the best I can to change this, to educate our way out of this. But we’re not going to arrest our way out, we’re not going to legislate our way out. We have to educate our way out with this and we have to work with our partners.”
