On Tuesday, August 19th, 2025, Officers with the Cumberland Police Department were conducting foot patrols in the area of the scenic railroad when they observed a male subject in an area marked "no trespassing". Officers then made contact with the subject and identified him as Gary Randall Trenter II, 37, of Westernport MD. At that time, officers observed him to have CDS paraphernalia sitting in his lap. During a subsequent search of the subject, he was also found to have an amount of suspected methamphetamine, as well as suspected amphetamine pills on his person. As a result, Trenter was placed under arrest and transported to Police Headquarters for processing. He was later taken to the Allegany County Detention Center where he was held on a Temporary Commitment.
