All members of the Western Maryland Delegation voted to sustain Governor Wes Moore’s veto on establishing a Reparations Commission to look at remedies for slavery injustice. The General Assembly overrode the governor’s veto on Tuesday. Senator Mike McKay said a commission can come up with a solution, but the cost of enacting it would be in the billions and never come to fruition…
“Any of the recommendations have never been enacted. And it just reminds me of the old Peanuts cartoon where Lucy says, ‘Charlie Brown, I won’t take the football away from you, go ahead and try to kick it.’ And what does she do – she takes the football away.”
