Governor Larry Hogan will wrap up a two-day swing through Western Maryland this afternoon in Garrett County. Highlights of the governor’s visit to Allegany County on Friday included announcing a broadband fiber optic initiative for downtown Cumberland and nine business parks. The governor will began his day Friday at the Western Correctional Institution where he will honor correctional staff who saved the life of a colleague having a heart attack earlier this summer. Hogan's next stop was the Allegany County Center for Career and Technical Education where he received an update on the Allegany County Pathways in Technology Early College High Program. The program provides students with a free education that starts in grade nine, continues through high school and culminates in the attainment of an associate degree in computer technology with a cybersecurity focus. Hogan will wrap up his visit by riding in the Autumn Glory Festival's Grand Feature Parade in Oakland today at 1 p.m.
