August 16th, 2023 by WCBC Radio

America’s 911 Foundation is gearing up for its 23rd  911 Ride. This year’s ride begins on August 17 with participants traveling to the Flight 93 Memorial outside Somerset, Pennsylvania.  Friday morning, riders will depart Somerset and head down Wellersburg Road onto Route 36 before passing through Cumberland sometime between 830 and 915am.  Over 450 cyclists and escorts will travel down Mechanic Street before turning on to Frederick Street by the Police and Fire station.  After a short rest stop at Rocky Gap, the group continues on to the Pentagon in Washington and then on to New York on Saturday.  WCBC spoke with Roger Flick, Maryland Regional Contact for the 911 Ride about that first ride in 2001, organized to help New York City’s economy after the attacks…

Flick said he is often interviewed and asked why the ride is still important and he shared a story of a TV interview he was involved in one year…
