Allegany and Bishop Walsh High Schools were on a brief lockdown Thursday afternoon after Allegany Emergency Services and Cumberland Police received numerous calls of people in the area hearing gunfire. Both Maryland State Police and Cumberland Police checked both schools. After checking the areas of the schools, it was determined the gun shots were coming from an area gun range. Lockdowns were lifted at both schools.
