The Allegany County Historical Society is expanding to another property in the city of Cumberland.  Through a recent real estate auction, the society was able to acquire the Canada Hose Company on Mechanic Street.  One of the oldest standing structures in Allegany County, the historic firehouse will provide space for the history group for programming at a grassroots level. Plans are in the works to develop the space to function in a similar manner as the group’s other properties – the Gordon Roberts House, the Brook-Whiting House Museum, and the Union Grove School House.  Dave Williams of the Historical Society spoke at the City Council meeting to offer thanks for making the building available through the auction…
