Cumberland City Police are currently investigating an assault that occurred on Sunday December 11, 2017 in the area of Pennsylvania Avenue at Fourth Street at about 8:46 pm.
The victim in this matter was found by a private citizen with a laceration to his head in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue. The victim was interviewed by officers who advised that he was “jumped” from behind by an unknown assailant as he was walking on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The victim recalled being struck in the head by a baseball bat or a similar type object and was kicked by a second assailant as well. The victim was able to gather himself and ran towards Maryland Avenue.
He was transported to the Western Maryland Regional Center for treatment. Anyone with information to this incident is encouraged to call the Cumberland City Police Department at 301-777-1600.
