On June 2nd, 2023 at approximately 9:45 pm officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 600 block of Park Street for a report of a male slumped over the wheel of a vehicle. Upon officer’s arrival they contacted the operator, Matthew Goss, 40 of Ridgely, WV, and observed evidence of impairment. Officers had Goss step out of the vehicle and observed controlled dangerous substances in plain view. Goss declined to perform standardized field sobriety and it was also learned that he had an Active Arrest Warrant. Goss was placed under arrest, and was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was released on his own recognizance.
