Frostburg State University will be the recipient of over one million dollars in grant monies from the State of Maryland to expand capacity in their on-campus nursing programs. The new programs that will be made available are seen as significant to the imminent and severe nursing shortage the country is facing. The funds come from Maryland’s Competitive Institutional Grant Funding and will be utilized to expand the capacity of pre-license nursing programs within Western Maryland. Scheduled to begin this fall, FSU will introduce a traditional Bachelor of Science in addition to an online LPN to BSN program. The on-campus program will reduce the travel distance for regional students wanting a BSN program by keeping it within a 4-year residential campus setting.
