WCBC radio has opened its microphones to a bit of local history as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. A call on Thursday to WCBC's Dave Norman program highlighted the Fort Hill Rifle and Pistol club which was established in 1944. The organization has 500 members and was originally created to guard certain local areas during World War II…

“It was a group of men that were actually like part of a militia during the Second World War that guarded the railroad hub in our area and different federal buildings, and then after the war was over, they enjoyed shooting at the armory so much they wanted to have a place to shoot at of their own.”
