Lt Governor does not anticipate Republican governor trend to continue

Although a deeply blue, or Democrat heavy state, Maryland has elected Republican governors in three of the last five elections- however Lt Governor Boyd Rutherford does not anticipate that trend to continue today. The Republican nominee is Delegate Dan Cox, who has been endorsed by former President Donald Trump and has come under fire for pushing a far right, some say extremist agenda. Cox does not have the support of Rutherford or Governor Larry Hogan. Polls show Cox trailing Democrat Wes Moore by as many as 20 points.
