A late night house fire on Saturday is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal. It took 40 firefighters from the Orleans Volunteer Fire Department almost an hour to control the blaze on Scofield Road in Flintstone. Sub-zero temperatures and winds complicated fire-fighting efforts. No one was home at the time of the fire, but two dogs and several chickens perished. The fire is believed to have started in the back of the residence.
