Commissioner Brodie not happy with latest property assessments

Maryland property values jumped 20.6% over the last three years amid the pandemic's strong market, the largest increase in recent years, and Allegany County residents are feeling the sting. Property owners have already started receiving their reassessments in the mail. While residential property values increased in all counties and Baltimore city for the fifth consecutive year, the Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation reports that increases were substantially higher than state averages on the Eastern Shore and in parts of Western Maryland. Park St Arrest for Disorderly Conduct

On Saturday, January 14th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police responded to a business in the 700 block of Park St for a report of a disorderly subject. Upon arrival, officers contacted employees of the establishment. They advised that a male subject had come into the business, yelling and acting in a disorderly manner. They also advised the subject was running into shelves and knocking items onto the floor. The subject then left the store. Three individuals served Criminal Summonses in reference to an assault

On Saturday, January 14th, 2023, The Cumberland City Police served Criminal Summonses on three individuals in reference to an assault that occurred on January 11th, 2023. During that incident, the Cumberland City Police responded to the 900 block of Grand Ave for the report of an assault. A victim in the incident alleged that they tried to leave the residence after conversations with the three individuals made them feel uncomfortable. The Annual Mountain Maryland PACE event in Annapolis is scheduled for next Thursday and Friday and after a few years of change- things return to normal for the 2023 event. Survey: Only 16% of Gen Z are proud to be an American

Proud to be an America? Not so fast, if you ask Generation Z.  A new survey shows adults 18 to 25 years-old are far less likely than older generations to say that they are "proud to live in the United States." According to the Morning Consult poll, only 16% of Gen Z adults said they were proud to live in the United States. That's the lowest rate of all generations. Millennials were second lowest, with 36% proud to be Americans. By comparison, Generation X-ers and Baby Boomers were the most patriotic, at 54% and 73%, respectively. Attorney General Morrisey Blasts Biden Pistol Brace Rule

West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey on Friday blasted President Biden’s Department of Justice’s release of a final rule governing “Stabilizing Braces." Lawyers found more classified documents at Biden’s home

WASHINGTON (AP) — Lawyers for President Joe Biden found more classified documents at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, than previously known, the White House acknowledged Saturday. White House lawyer Richard Sauber said in a statement that a total of six pages of classified documents were found during a search of Biden's private library. Moore, a Democrat, will be sworn in as Maryland’s new governor in ceremonies next week in Annapolis.
