The Criminal Summons stemmed from an assault that occurred on January 11th, 2023 in the 900 block of Maryland Avenue. On January 13th, 2023 an officer of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the teen block of Queen City Drive for a reported shop lifting. Upon officer’s arrival they spoke with spoke with a business employee who advised that Ashley Silvious had taken items from the store without paying. Silvious was issued a Criminal Citation for theft and released pending her trial at District Court. Arrest: Ashley Marie Silvious, age35, Cumberland Maryland. Charge: Theft Less than $100.
Gov. Larry Hogan on Friday pardoned a man who spent more than a decade on death row. WBAL reports John Huffington was convicted in 1981 on two counts of first-degree murder in Caroline County and was sentenced to death. Huffington's sentence was reversed on appeal in 1982, and he was granted a new trial, which was transferred to Frederick County. That trial resulted in his conviction in 1983 on murder, robbery and gun charges. He was again sentenced to death plus prison time. Deputies of the Allegany County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of 22323 McMullen Highway, Rawlings, MD for a reported tractor-trailer collision. Upon arrival deputies observed a tractor-trailer that had left the roadway and collided into several gas pumps. The structure covering the gas pumps had been struck in the collision, causing the roof to collapse onto the tractor-trailer. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle who was identified as Steve Sisler, 49, of Elkins. West Virginia was successfully extracted from the vehicle. Sisler was transported to UPMC for treatment for non life threatening injuries.
