Comptroller excited about outdoor recreation opportunities in Western Maryland

CDS ARREST

On Saturday, February 4, 2023 at approximately 5:47 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the area of Park Street and Cecelia Street for traffic infraction.  The operator of the vehicle was identified as John Sinclair Sr.  A consent search was granted and Sinclair was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance without a prescription.  Sinclair was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial. THEFT AND RESISTING ARREST

On Saturday, February 4, 2023 at approximately 2:52 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 700 block of Park Street for a theft.  Police contacted the staff who reported that Aaron Soules stole merchandise from the store.  After further investigation, Soules was located at a nearby business and advised that he was under arrest.  Soules resisted the arrest, but officers were able to take him into custody after a brief struggle.  Soules was transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and posted a $3,500 unsecured personal bond. BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Erin Rooney.  The warrant was issued as the result of Rooney failing to appear in court on December 13, 2022.  Rooney was originally charged with Driving without a License.  She was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  She was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on her personal recognizance.
