Cumberland Police requesting information destruction of property on Decatur Street
On Saturday, December 24, 2022 at approximately 7:41 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 200 block of Decatur Street for a destruction of property complaint. The caller reported that someone had thrown an object which struck and damaged the front door window of his residence. Cumberland Gateway Center continue to acquire and demolish properties
Just about to enter it’s 8th year, developers of the Cumberland Gateway Center continue to acquire and demolish properties while construction crews work on getting the first buildings complete. The center is being constructed between Park Street and Maryland Avenue and Emily and Williams streets, part of the Rolling Mill neighborhood. The developer is Ed Scott who has said that once complete, the center will contain restaurants, shops and a hotel. New Year’s Eve festivities return to downtown Cumberland
New Year's Eve festivities will return in full swing to downtown Cumberland this weekend. The planned celebration will allow open containers after the City Council approved a waiver to do so earlier this month. ASSAULT ON POLICE ARREST
On Saturday, December 24, 2022 at approximately 4:16 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business on Virginia Avenue for a check on well-being. Upon arrival, police contacted the staff who reported that there was a male subject inside the store currently laying on the floor. Officers contacted the subject who was intoxicated and very uncooperative. The subject was later identified as Stephon Morris. Morris began causing a disturbance and refused to listen to officers. Harriet Tubman statue defaced
WBAL reports someone defaced and stole a portion of the Harriet Tubman statue at the Banneker-Douglass Museum in Annapolis. "We suspect that on Friday evening or early Saturday morning, persons dismembered the finger of Harriet Tubman to take the vévé, which is the staff Harriet Tubman was holding (that was) attached to the statue," said the museum's executive director, Chanel Compton.
