The Homecoming clash pitting rivals Allegany and  Fort Hill is set to kickoff Saturday at 12:30 from Greenway Avenue Stadium. The rivalry dates back to 1936 and according to the Cumberland Times News, since then there have been 38 Turkey Day games, 47 Homecoming games, 10 playoff games, three mid-season matchups during World War II and the one — and only — game played during the spring due to a pandemic. Vice President Kamala Harris will be in Baltimore on Saturday for a grassroots event with Maryland Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wes Moore. Black Bear Hunt ends today

Twelve bears were killed on the fourth day of Maryland's annual black bear hunt Thursday, according to the Department of Natural Resources. That brought this year's hunt total to 72 bears, which included 27 males and 45 females. The county breakdown of bears checked in was 50 in Garrett, 12 in Allegany, six in Washington and four in Frederick. The hunt began Monday and continues through Saturday.

11 entities step closer to offering mobile sports betting in Maryland; Rocky Gap passing

WBAL reports the Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Commission announced it has approved licenses for 11 different companies to operate mobile sports betting sites in Maryland. Rocky Gap Casino has not sought a license. The licenses need final approval from the sports wagering commissioner. Maryland State Board of Elections reports early mail-in ballot totals

The State Board of Elections reported as of Thursday night that nearly 605,000 mail-in ballots have been requested and more than 218,000 have been returned. Some of the returned ballots will be counted ahead of Election Day. A judge approved the measure to count mail-in ballots ahead of Election Day in September. The state has nearly 300 drop boxes to collect the mail-in ballots.

Jerry Lee Lewis, ‘Great Balls of Fire’ rock ‘n’ roll star, dies at 87

 Rock pioneer Jerry Lee Lewis, known for hits like "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" and "Great Balls of Fire," died Friday morning.
