The Allegany County Historical Society is recreating a 1920s special event at the F Brook Whiting house for their spring 2022 fundraiser. Gatsby Gala will be on May 7th as it might have happened when Brooke Whiting, Sr. and his wife Ruth lived at their home at 632 Washington Street. A quick hitting snow and ice storm has caused major traffic issues for local motorists. Westbound Alternate 40 is said to be shutdown due to a number of acciddnts in the Clarysville area.   We've been airing reports from listeners that indicate Interstate 68 east of Cumberland, on Martin's Mountain and Polish Mountain, are stop and slow go in both directions. A disabled tractor trailer in the center lane is an obstacle on Westbound 68 at the 39 mile marker.   A pair of trucks have slid toward the guide rail near the Clarysville Bridge.   

A heavy mixed precipitation. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches and ice accumulations of up to one quarter of an inch. In Maryland, Garrett and Extreme Western Allegany Counties. In West Virginia, Western Mineral County until 8 PM this evening. Travel may be difficult to nearly impossible. A funeral procession for canine officer Ralf will be today at 1:00. Departing from the Hillside Veterinary Hospital along route 40 and up north Mechanic Street around 1:00. Members of the community are asked to show their support roadside as canine officer Ralf makes his way to the Cumberland Police station…    

On Sunday, April, 17, 2022, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Mechanic Street.  The operator was identified as Matthew Twyman.  It was discovered that Twyman had an active arrest warrant out of Hampshire County, WV for fraud.  Twyman was arrested and a fugitive warrant was completed to be used as a detainer.  Twyman was transported to Central Booking and held on the detainer. On Sunday, April 17, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on James Eugene Feagin. The warrant was issued as a result of Feagin failing to appear for his court case at the District Court of Allegany County.  Feagin was originally charged with multiple fraud offenses.  He was arrested and later seen by a District Court Commissioner for his initial hearing. Feagin was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $7,500 bond.
