On Saturday, March 29, 2025 at approximately 11:19 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department was conducting a foot patrol in the area of the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad when he observed two people walking on the train tracks which is clearly posted ‘No Trespassing’. Frostburg State baseball team started its weekend road trip off with two wins at West Virginia Wesleyan by scores of 8-3 and 7-2. CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED
On Saturday, March 29, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Brandon Carbaugh. The summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on March 24, 2025 at approximately 7:10 PM when police responded to Shriver Avenue at Franklin Street for a hit and run complaint. Police contacted the alleged victim who reported that his vehicle was struck by the suspect vehicle which then fled the scene. Jessica Payton Nelson has been reported missing to the Cumberland Police Department. She is a white female, 15 years old, 4’-11”, approximately 120 lbs, with shoulder length blonde hair and blue eyes. She was last seen in the area of Winifred Road on Sunday morning, 3/30/25 at approximately 2:00 AM. Her clothing description is as follows: a black Nike hooded sweatshirt, shorts, and crocs. Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that West Virginia has been granted a 90-day extension to submit its final proposal to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration’s (NTIA) Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program. This action comes after the Governor met earlier this week with U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick to discuss the Trump Administration’s plans to make changes to the BEAD program. The BEAD program is a partnership between the federal government and states that aims to get all Americans on-line by building the infrastructure necessary to increase the adoption of high-speed internet. Slope Work Starting on MD 935
Maryland State Highways starts work on a slope stabilization project this week on a portion of MD935 near Lonaconing.
