Fatal Accident Near Paw Paw

West Virginia State Police report a fatal accident in Morgan County Sunday.   Noah Dean, 23, of Fredericksburg, Va., lost control of his vehicle on state Route 29 south of Paw Paw around 4:18 p.m.  His vehicle slammed into an oncoming vehicle driven by 78-year-old Paul Byer of Johnstown, PA.  Byer was hospitalized.  Dean was pronounced dead at the scene.

Roberta Roper Opposes House Bill

Roberta Roper is opposing House Bill 853 in Maryland.  Roper is the founder of the Maryland Crime Victims Resource Center.  Her daughter, Stephanie Roper, was a student at Frostburg State University who was murdered in 1982.  The bill Roper opposes would reduce the duration of a sentence if the individual was convicted between the ages of 18 and 25.

Bench Warrant Served

On March 31, 2025, Officers of the Cumberland Police Department served a two Circuit Court Bench Warrants on Jared Nathaniel Citarelli. The Circuit Court Bench Warrants were issued for CDS possession not marijuana and CDS possession not Cannabis. Citarelli was transported to the Allegany County Detention Center.    Arrest: Jared Nathaniel Citarelli, age 36, Cumberland Maryland. Charges: Circuit Court Bench Warrants, CDS Possession not marijuana and CDS possession not Cannabis.   

New Website for State Comptroller

Maryland’s Office of the Comptroller has a new website featuring a user-friendly interface with improved navigation. Marylandcomptroller.gov has upgraded access to routinely used resources like Maryland Tax Connect, iFile, DirectFile, and aids for customers to reach the agency by phone or email. A new customer relationship management tool was also added, allowing the agency to better manage and track taxpayer inquiries and requests.

PA School Staff Push For “Living Wage”

Pennsylvania school support workers and their union allies rallied in Harrisburg for House Bill 777, which would raise wages to $20 an hour for more than 41,000 school Staff. Over 100 supporters gathered on the Capitol Steps to encourage passage of the bill.
