Gov. Justice proposes 10% personal income tax cut Coming off the greatest year of revenue collections in state history, Gov. Justice announced Wednesday that he is proposing a permanent 10% cut of the personal income tax. Under the Governor’s proposal, the 10% tax cut will be retroactive to the beginning of the 2022 calendar year, putting $250 million back in the pockets of West Virginians. The Governor announced that he will call a Special Session of the West Virginia Legislature to coincide with this month’s interim meetings on July 24-26 to allow legislators to vote on his proposal. CPD Serves Bench Warrant
On Friday, July 8, 2022, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Anthony Talbert Sr. The warrant was issued as a result of Talbert violating his probation. He was originally charged with Disorderly Conduct. Talbert was arrested and transported to Central Booking. West Virginia Celebrates Adopt A Highway Program
The 33rd Annual Adopt-A-Highway (AAH) Volunteer Appreciation Day Picnic is set for Saturday, August 6 at Pipestem Resort State Park. The state departments of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) and Transportation (DOT) will host the day-long celebration of active volunteers who pick up litter along West Virginia's highways. Festivities begin at 9 a.m. with bingo, arts and crafts, children's games, and other activities. Pre-registration is required. Connect Maryland: Governor Announces More Than $127.6 Million For Broadband Grants
Governor Larry Hogan today announced that, through the state’s Connect Maryland initiative, the Office of Statewide Broadband has awarded more than $127.6 million to local jurisdictions, Internet Service Providers, educational, and community organizations to increase high-speed internet access and affordability.
