Annual Adopt-A-Highway Spring Cleanup set for April 23rd

The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (WVDEP) is now accepting registrations for the Adopt-A-Highway Spring Statewide Cleanup set for Saturday, April 23. Co-sponsored by the WVDEP and the state Division of Highways, the Adopt-A-Highway program is administered by the WVDEP’s Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan (REAP) and improves the quality of the state’s environment by encouraging public involvement in the elimination of highway litter.   Since the program’s inception in 1988, state citizens have cleaned up close to 70,000 miles of state highways and roads during annual spring and fall Adopt-A-Highway events. Disturbance Leads to Arrest

On Sunday, April 3, 2022 at approximately 12:46 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a residence in the 600 block of Princeton Street for a disturbance.  Upon officers’ arrival, they contacted the resident who advised that Aaron Soules was at the residence.  It was known to police that the resident had a Protective Order against Soules and he was not allowed to be there.  While speaking with the resident, Soules ran out of the rear of the residence.  Officers ordered Soules to stop and he continued to flee on foot, attracting the attention of multiple neighbors in…

Police Make Arrest in Strong Arm Robbery

On Sunday, April 3, 2022 at approximately 2:17 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Fayette Street at N. Lee Street to check on the well-being of a subject laying in the roadway.  Upon their arrival, they located the subject and observed that he had visible injuries.  It was discovered that the subject was a victim of a strong-arm robbery.  The suspect stole currency and property from the victim. The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) reports as of April 1, 2022, there are currently 376 active COVID-19 cases statewide. Health Department Preps For Additional Booster

On Wednesday, the CDC released updated COVID-19 booster guidelines, allowing additional booster doses for certain populations. The new guidelines include the following: a second booster dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech) for anyone age 50 and older whose last booster was at least four months ago; an additional mRNA booster dose for those who are moderately to severely immunocompromised and whose last booster was at least four months ago; an additional mRNA booster dose for those who received a Johnson & Johnson primary vaccine and booster at least four month ago.   The Allegany County Health Department…
