The Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Monday announced an update on the top 10 and bottom 10 skilled nursing facilities in the state ranked by percentage of staff with at least one dose of a vaccine against COVID-19. Hogan Comments on Indictment of Former Chief of Staff

Commissioners Approve Allocations from Rescue Plan Funding
Allegany County government has begun the process of distributing some $14 million in American Rescue Plan funding- announcing a series of actions during the regular meeting of the County Commissioners. Jason Bennett, Allegany County administrator, said the funding may be used to maintain government services during the pandemic, water/sewer and broadband infrastructure, premium pay for essential employees and aid to households, small businesses, nonprofits and impacted industries such as tourism and hospitality. Friday Accident near Country Club Mall Proves Fatal
On October 8, 2021 approximately 1:37 PM, Troopers from the Cumberland Barrack responded to a two vehicle collision on Winchester Road at the entrance to the Country Club Mall. It was discovered that a 2009 Toyota Camry driven by Georgia Woods of Cumberland Maryland was traveling southbound on Winchester Road and attempted to make a left-hand turn into Country Club Mall. NBCI inmate stabbed in head
An inmate of the North Branch Correctional Institution reportedly suffered a stab wound to the head Sunday evening, according to the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. The 32-year-old victim's injuries were not life-threatening, said Mark Vernarelli, a spokesman for the agency. The inmate was taken to UPMC Western Maryland by a Cresaptown Volunteer Fire Department ambulance. The stabbing at the maximum-security state prison on U.S. Route 220 at Cresaptown occurred during an altercation in the victim's cell, Vernarelli said. Oakland Woman, Juvenile Killed in Accident
The Garrett County Sheriff’s Office reports an Oakland woman and a juvenile were killed early Sunday afternoon when a passenger vehicle collided with a pickup truck on Bethlehem Road. Police said Kelli Nicole Kreuger and the youth died at the scene of the 12:43 p.m. crash. The Cumberland Times News reports two youths in the passenger vehicle, a Nissan Versa, were taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia, for treatment of their injuries.
