Allegany County has secured a tire recycling business that could eventually employ about 50 people in the area. The company, MNM&D, Inc. of Pasadena, recycles commercial truck tires from around the globe. During the regular business meeting of the Allegany County Commissioners, the officials voted to extend a 15-year lease to the company to locate a tire recycling facility in the McCoole Business Park.

Nathan Price, county project manager, told the Cumberland Times-News the facility could employ as many as 50 people when it becomes fully operational. Price said the company will occupy a 9,000-square-foot building on eight acres at the site, allowing for future expansion.
The state said it's found a way to help school systems pay the bill for COVID-19 testing this fall with money coming from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A proposed $26 billion settlement with opioid producers could bring as much as $485 million to Maryland to help address the opioid epidemic, the state’s attorney general announced Wednesday.
