850 New Coronavirus Cases in MD; Positivity Rate Approaching 4%
Maryland health officials reported 850 new coronavirus cases Monday, continuing a trend of more daily infections over the past several days. The state positivity rate increased from 3.84% to 3.94% over a 24-hour period, according to the update. Of those with the virus, 529 are hospitalized, an increase from Sunday's total. Gov. Larry Hogan renewed the state of emergency for Maryland last week.
Death of Grant County Woman Among COVID Cases Reported Monday
A 71-year-old woman from Grant County has died from coronavirus-related complications, according to an update released Monday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. A total of 352 new cases of the virus were included in the report. West Virginia currently has a daily positive test rate of 4.19%. The overall death count for the state is now 458.
Daily Health Map Has Mineral County In Higher Risk
Not to be confused with the school map, the daily COVID-19 map now has Mineral County in the orange classification, meaning there is significant spread of the disease, while Hampshire County is now gold, one step below. It does not change the overall Yellow Status that schools in both counties are operating under this week. A vehicle addicent this morning just above Corriganville Sheetz on route 36 caused the highway to be shut down from approximately 5:53am until 7:20am.

Robbery at Knife Point Reported
A robbery at knifepoint has been reported at the Corriganville Sheetz this morning at approximately 2:30am. Police are searching for a white male who was wearing jeans, a black jacket, a pink face covering. The assailant left with an undisclosed sum of cash. Police are investigating.
Cumberland Man Charged with Home Invasion, Assault
On Sunday November 1st, 2020 officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 600 block of East First Street for a home invasion. Upon officers arrival they spoke with a victim who had sustained serious injuries, and claimed that a male suspect wearing a mask had assaulted them with a knife, while trying to steal their property. The victim was transported to the hospital and officers canvassed the area for witnesses and attempted to locate the suspect. Final Day of Early Voting in MD
Today is the final day of early voting in Allegany County, with the County Office Building open from 7 AM until 8 PM…and beyond…to accommodate those who want to use the option. Elections Director Diane Loibel says it was a busy weekend for voting, and that about 15% of the total registered to vote here have already cast ballots… Tomorrow is Election Day, and Allegany County will have six vote centers taking the place of normal poling places due to the pandemic.
