The Allegany County Public Schools Food and Nutrition Services Department is currently working to develop a contingency plan to make food distribution available to students attending Braddock Middle School. As soon as the details of this updated plan are finalized, an official announcement will be made to inform Braddock families. Frostburg State To Resume Blended Classes Thursday
Frostburg State University, after a review of testing numbers from the two-week period, recent symptomatic cases monitored by Brady Health Center and related indicators FSU is monitoring, announced it will resume the in-person sessions of blended classes on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 8 a.m. Approximately 70% of classes feature a mix of online and in-person while the remaining 30% are entirely online. WVU Potomac State Issues COVID-19 Update
Regular on-campus surveillance COVID testing, along with self-reported positive cases from external testing, indicates an increase in positive cases on the WVU Potomac State College campus. As of Sunday, November 1, a total of 18 positive cases have been reported for the campus, with 15 positive tests for students and three among faculty and staff. Of the 15 positive student cases, three are isolating on campus with the other 12 students isolating at their homes. An additional 40 students are quarantined due to exposure to the positive cases. The Allegany County Health Department reports 62 new COVID-19 cases in Allegany County since Friday, bringing the cumulative total number of cases to 857. 850 New Coronavirus Cases in MD; Positivity Rate Approaching 4%
Maryland health officials reported 850 new coronavirus cases Monday, continuing a trend of more daily infections over the past several days. The state positivity rate increased from 3.84% to 3.94% over a 24-hour period, according to the update. Of those with the virus, 529 are hospitalized, an increase from Sunday's total. Gov. Larry Hogan renewed the state of emergency for Maryland last week.
Death of Grant County Woman Among COVID Cases Reported Monday
A 71-year-old woman from Grant County has died from coronavirus-related complications, according to an update released Monday by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. A total of 352 new cases of the virus were included in the report. West Virginia currently has a daily positive test rate of 4.19%. The overall death count for the state is now 458.
Daily Health Map Has Mineral County In Higher Risk
Not to be confused with the school map, the daily COVID-19 map now has Mineral County in the orange classification, meaning there is significant spread of the disease, while Hampshire County is now gold, one step below. A vehicle addicent this morning just above Corriganville Sheetz on route 36 caused the highway to be shut down from approximately 5:53am until 7:20am.

Robbery at Knife Point Reported
A robbery at knifepoint has been reported at the Corriganville Sheetz this morning at approximately 2:30am. Police are searching for a white male who was wearing jeans, a black jacket, a pink face covering. The assailant left with an undisclosed sum of cash. Police are investigating.
