Allegany County, SHA Crews to Work on Old Mount Savage Road Culvert
The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) in partnership with Allegany County crews will be replacing a pipe and rebuilding a concrete inlet on MD 831B (Old Mount Savage Road), Oct. 20 and 21 from 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Crews will close MD 831B (Old Mount Savage Road) between Dakota St. and Lionz Lane to make the repairs that will improve drainage. Death of Hardy County Woman in Huntington Under Investigation
Authorities in Cabell County are investigating the death of a Hardy County woman whose body was discovered in Huntington, during the weekend. The body of 31-year-old Lyndel Marie Haller was found Saturday around noon in the 400 block of 5 1/2 Alley, according to the Huntington Police Department. An autopsy will be performed as part of the investigation. No other information about the death has been released. .

Four Deaths, Nearly 500 New Coronavirus Cases Confirmed in MD
Four more Maryland residents have died after contracting COVID-19, according to Monday's update from the state health department. The total number of cases in the state has surpassed 136,000. The news comes one day after Governor Hogan's office announced no deaths had occurred in the state over a 24-hour period during the weekend. The Maryland Department of Health said 497 new cases have been confirmed and the statewide positivity rate is now at 3.14 percent.
Gateway West Announces Additional Food Giveaway Events
Gateway West in Cumberland has announced two additional food giveaways this month at the church location on West Industrial Boulevard. The first event will be tomorrow, Oct. 20th, beginning at 11am. Pastor Jason Smith tells WCBC that, because they’re expecting many families in need to show up throughout the day, there will be signs in place and volunteers on hand to keep traffic moving in and out of the parking lot area. Cumberland Man Charged with Assault
On 10/18/2020 at approximately 5:00 PM the Cumberland City Police Department responded to the double digit block of North Lee Street for an assault. Upon arrival officers observed Scott Michael Dersin attempting to leave the residence. Mr. Dersin was detained and officers contacted the victim. Officers were able to observe visible injuries to the victim and learned that Mr. Dersin assaulted them. Mr. Dersin was placed under arrest and taken before a District Court Commissioner for his initial appearance. Mr. Dersin was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $5,000.00 bond. Franchot: Coronavirus Stimulus Aid Critical for MD Local and State Governments
