A traffic alert for a campaign event this afternoon. A Trump Train of vehicles will organize in the parking lot of Allegany College of Maryland at 1 PM, and will take a route that brings it up Oldtown Road and onto Henderson Avenue, before heading to Frostburg on Alternate Route 40, then south on Maryland 36 to Westernport, and east on 135 before returning to the Cumberland area by coming north on Route 220. CDS Arrest Made After Traffic Stop
On October 17, 2020, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Park Street and Baltimore Avenue for traffic violations. Officers learned that the vehicle was not registered and displaying registration plates issued to another vehicle. A police K-9 was called to the scene and conducted a free air scan of the vehicle. While completing the scan, the K-9 indicated a positive alert for the odor of CDS. A probable cause search was then conducted on the vehicle and the occupants. The West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) has posted the October 17, 2020, Saturday Education Map that determines which counties will hold in-person and blended instruction and directs the level of extracurricular activities permitted. The map is developed with information from the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) and vetted by the COVID-19 Data Review Panel. Police make theft, burglary arrests
On Friday at approximately 12:30 PM the Cumberland City Police Department responded to a business in the 700 block of Park Street for a shoplifting complaint. Officers arrived on scene and spoke to an employee. Officers learned that Samuel Charley Berry III and Debra May Berry had concealed merchandise and were attempting to leave the business without paying. Officers arrested both subjects and they were released on criminal citations pending trial in District Court. The Cumberland Police Dept. is requesting the public's assistance with locating a missing juvenile. The missing juvenile is: Arianna Lyree Magruder 12 Y/O W/F Magruder left her Decatur Street residence this morning at 3:30 a.m. It is believed that Magruder is not in any danger and is being considered as a runaway. Gas prices dropping in Cumberland
Gas prices across Maryland saw a variety of movement this week. Drivers in most Maryland markets saw an increase of a few cents while drivers in Cumberland and Hagerstown saw a decrease of a few cents. The gas price average in Maryland today is $2.31, up respectively five cents from last week and seven cents in the last month and down 16 cents from this date last year.
