One of Senator Mike McKay’s bills this year in Annapolis is designed to give more protections for burial plots and monuments placed by families for departed loved ones. Sav-A-Lot Store Tops Holiday Program
The Cumberland Save-A-Lot grocery store located along Industrial Boulevard saw one of the highest number of donations by customers across all of the chain’s stores for its Bags for a Bright Holiday program. Local shoppers purchased and donated over 2,000 bags of food to support families in need. Save-A-Lot also contributed an additional $500 to Western Maryland Food Bank, bringing the total impact to $10,575.

A plan was developed and published in 2016 as a cooperative effort between state and county government agencies, business owners, and local citizens. New Key Bridge Design Announced
The final design of the new Francis Scott Key Bridge was unveiled on Tuesday afternoon. Walmart Buys Monroeville Mall
A traditional destination for local shoppers is being sold to Walmart. It has been announced that Walmart has purchased the Monroeville Mall outside Pittsburgh. The purchase price was 34 million dollars. There is currently no Walmart in Monroeville, where U.S Route 22 houses dozens of retail businesses. The Monroeville Mall site covers 186 acres, far more than is needed for a Walmart Supercenter, which usually covers 25 acres. The two story Monroeville Mall opened in 1969.
Comptroller Reports 1099-G Printing Error
The Office of the Comptroller has identified a printing malfunction that led to a limited batch of roughly 6,000 1099-G forms going to incorrect addresses. The printing error did not impact other tax forms produced by the agency. There was no external data breach; this was an internal issue. Individuals who mistakenly received another person’s information should destroy the document immediately. The correct 1099 will be mailed to affected individuals this week, and the correct information is also available to view through the General Accounting Division Online Service Center.
