Story Time At The Park Begins For Summer

Story Time at the Park begins Thursday morning through the Allegany County Library System. Each child attending will receive a free book and craft. Maryland Ranks 3rd In Retirement Readiness

Western and Southern Financial Group has ranked all 50 states based on key retirement readiness factors and Maryland has come in third overall. Factors considered include average 401k balance, income, homeownership, life expectancy, and cost of living. Maryland was rated sixth for retirement funds, third for earnings among older adults but fared lower at 37th in senior homeownership and 45th in cost of living.  The number one state overall was New Jersey.

Bench Warrant-Violation of Probation

On Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department arrested David Antoine Lee, 37, of Cumberland, MD. Lee was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on June 3rd, 2025. The warrant alleged Lee violated the terms and conditions of his probation that stemmed from a previous conviction on charges of driving without a license. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance, where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on $2,500 bond. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced Monday that Amazon is investing at least $20 Billion dollars to establish multiple high-tech cloud computing and artificial intelligence campuses across the state.  The investment creates over 1,200 jobs starting in Luzerne and Bucks counties with other areas under consideration. Motor Vehicle Arrest

On Tuesday, June 10th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of Waverly Terrace for the report of tampering with a motor vehicle. Upon arrival, officers contacted the owners of the vehicle who advised that a male subject was seen inside their vehicle. Officers located a male subject in the nearby area and found him to be in possession of property from inside the vehicle. Heidi Marie Studli, 17, W/F, has been reported to the Cumberland Police Department as a missing/runaway juvenile. ACPS Board of Education Thanks Blank for His Service
