Mechanic Street CDS Arrest

On Sunday, November 22, 2025 at approximately 9:29 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department stopped a vehicle on N. Mechanic Street and identified the operator as Ronald Iser.  A Police K-9 responded and alerted to the odor of drugs inside the vehicle.  Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located suspected heroin.  Iser was issued a criminal citation and released pending trial. Angel Tree Sponsors Still Needed

The Salvation Army of Cumberland is still looking for sponsors in their annual  Angel Tree program for Christmas. According to Angel Tree Coordinator Karen Wells, over 600 children need adopted for the holidays and over 100 are still in need of sponsors. West Virginia Broadband Funds Approved

Senator Shelly Moore Capito announced that West Virginia’s application for Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment – or BEAD funding, has been approved by the federal government.  The funding is nearly $546 million for 142 deployment projects, connecting 73,044 unserved and underserved locations throughout the state. Commissioners Send Letter On Water Issues

A letter has been sent to Governor Wes Moore’s office from the Allegany County Commissioners, backing the Western Maryland delegation request for a state of emergency regarding the Bel Air water system. If accepted the declaration would allow the state attorney general to open an investigation of Maryland Water Service and their business practices. Christmas Tree Lighting Friday Downtown

The new artificial Christmas tree lighting will take place this Friday night downtown.  The $23,000 tree was donated by Fred and Kristin Timbrook.  The tree has been erected at the corner of Baltimore and Liberty Streets.

Half Day Holiday Wednesday for State Employees in West Virginia

West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey has issued a proclamation granting state employees a half-day off before Thanksgiving.  The order excuses state employees for the second half of Wednesday, November 26 without charge against accrued annual leave. It does not affect private businesses, local governments, and other entities and individuals not employed by the State of West Virginia.

Johnstown Inclined Plane Near Reopening

The Johnstown inclined plane has been closed for repairs for years and should reopen soon.  The inclined plane should reopen in January or February after more inspections are completed.

City Police Report for Sunday
