On Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at approximately 10:29 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 1500 block of E. Oldtown Rd. for the report of a vehicle striking multiple parked vehicles and attempting to leave.  Police arrived and contacted the operator who was later identified as Dawn Fishel.  Officers observed that Fishel had struck two other vehicles with her vehicle.  Fishel was uncooperative with officers and refused to get out of her car after being requested to do so by police.  Fishel then assaulted one of the officers as he attempted to remove her from the car. …

CDS ARREST

On Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at approximately 3:50 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on Henderson Avenue and identified the operator as Michael Butler.  A police K-9 was utilized and alerted to the odor of drugs in the vehicle.  A search was conducted and Butler was found to be in possession of suspected drug paraphernalia.  Butler was issued a criminal citation and later released pending trial. City Easter Egg Hunt Moved To New Location

The Cumberland Parks and Recreation annual Easter Egg Hunt has a new location this year.  The event is scheduled to take place at 1pm on Friday at the Mason Sports Complex at the end of Offutt Street in South Cumberland. The location was moved to allow for better access and parking for families attending the event.

Delegate Says Governor Not Concerned About Tax Hike

The ending of Maryland’s legislative session leaves Marylanders with the largest tax increase in state history. Whole Blood Program Expands to Morgantown

Three counties in West Virginia have now joined the state’s whole blood program. The latest is Monongalia County, home to Morgantown and WVU. James Scheidler, Regional Director of West Virginia EMS, says whole blood transfusions increase chances of survival by restoring blood volume and enhancing clotting function quickly…    “Whole blood has shown that overall patients have lower chances of dying, they require less days in the ICU, fewer surgeries, less time on a ventilator, and overall require fewer blood products.”

Van Hollen’s Visit To El Salvador

Maryland’s U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador on Wednesday in an attempt to secure the release of wrongly deported Kilmar Abrego-Garcia.
