Airports Will See Cuts In Flights Due To Shutdown
The Federal Aviation Administration has announced plans to cancel 10% of flights at major airports across the country due to staffing issues. What is being termed as “controller fatigue” is to blame as air traffic controllers continue to work without pay, with many calling off sick. Airport locations include BWI, Dulles, and Reagan National. New Bridge Being Erected in Fountain-Headsville
A new bridge is being erected by the West Virginia Department of Transportation on Headsville Road – County Route 16 – near Cabin Road in Fountain. The bridge is a $1.83 million project. Delegate Gary Howell shared with WCBC that funding is through state and federal sources to replace deteriorated metal pipe arches with a full bridge. One-lane traffic through the area will be maintained during the construction process.

County to Send Letter to Governor’s Office
In support of Senator Mike McKay’s letter regarding the Bel Air water crisis, the Allegany County Commissioners will be writing their own and sending it to Governor Wes Moore’s office, the Attorney General’s Office and the Public Service Commission. Highway Work Scheduled For I-68 Vocke Road Exit
An overnight closure of Exit 40 off of I-68 West at Vocke Road is planned for Sunday. The State Highway Administration is doing work to replace a highway drainage inlet along the exits. Drivers can expect a ramp closure between 10pm and 6am while the project is completed. Traffic will be detoured using westbound I-68 Exit 39 in LaVale.
Rural King Having Grand Opening
The first Maryland location of Rural King is having its grand opening this weekend. Located on the grounds of Country Club Mall in LaVale, Rural King bought the property that formerly housed JC Penney. Rural King was established in 1960, providing livestock feed, workwear, hunting gear, and home goods. The grand opening weekend will feature food trucks, specials, and giveaways. Rural King supports 4-H, FFA and also partners with the Gary Sinise Foundation.
Buckel Comments On Governor’s Commission
