Fed Funding Will Help Congested Annapolis Roads

Members of Maryland’s Congressional delegation announced new federal funding to improve road safety in Annapolis. US Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin along with Congressman John Sarbanes said over $600,000 is earmarked to help Maryland’s capital install AI-based traffic signal technology designed to prevent accidents. Funding will be through the US Department of Transportation Safe Streets and Roads grant program.

Fees Hidden In State Budget Coming To Light

The Maryland General Assembly patted itself on the back for passage of a balanced budget this year, hyping the “bipartisan” agreements.  However, coming to light now are fees that were either raised or newly instituted in the budget. City Looking For State, Federal Money

Some major infrastructure work needs done in Cumberland in order to accommodate the pending project to re-deck Interstate 68’s bridges through the city.  Work to enlarge the intersection of Harrison and Mechanic Streets is needed as trailer trucks will be detoured off the highway during the project.  Cumberland Mayor Ray Morriss says a combination of local, state and federal funds will be pursued…    

Butler and Church Alleys Closed June 11 & 12

The City of Cumberland Engineering Department, on behalf of First Energy, would like to notify the public that Butler Alley and Church Alley will be closed to thru traffic between 7:00 AM and 3:00 PM on Tuesday, June 11th, and Wednesday, June 12th, to allow First Energy to perform work in the area. Signage will be in place to detour passenger vehicles around the alley closure. Individuals impacted by the alley closure may use the George Street parking garage. Region’s Heritage Celebrated During Museum Week

It’s Museum Week in Allegany County.
