Driving Under the Influence Arrest
On Thursday May 9th, 2024 at approximately 11:55 pm an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had traveled the wrong way on Centre Street, which is a one-way street. The officer contacted the operator, Lori Zehfuss, and observed evidence of impairment. After the performance of Standardized Field Sobriety further evidence of impairment was observed. Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing and Hindering
On Thursday May 9th, 2024 at approximately 11:19 am officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 700 block of Park Street for a reported disturbance. Upon officer’s arrival they spoke with an employee who indicated a female and been creating a disturbance and soliciting on the property. A description was provided and officers were able to locate a female matching the description. Arrest Warrant Served
On Thursday May 9th, 2024 officers of the Cumberland Police Department served two Arrest Warrants on Isaac Case. The Arrest Warrants were issued by the District Court when he violated the conditions of his probation on two different cases. Case was taken before a District Court Commissioner where he was held without bond. Arrest: Isaac Case, age 23, Cumberland Maryland. Charges: Two Counts of Violation of Probation.

Prescription Drug Coverage To End
Maryland state retirees are scrambling to figure out what to do about prescription drug coverage that will be ending in December. Moves by the General Assembly in 2009 to balance the budget resulted in the state dropping the prescription coverage. Senator Mike McKay had submitted a bill to reinstate the coverage, but it did not make it out of committee. He’s not sure about another bill happening… McKay says the retirees should start making plans about what to do before the end of the summer…

FSU Commencement Speakers Announced
Frostburg State University will celebrate student achievements of its spring 2024 graduating class at the 164th Commencement Ceremony on Thursday, May 23, in the Cordts Physical Education Center. This year’s commencement speakers are Brianne Helmstetter from the College of Education and Health and Natural Sciences; Alivia Melius from the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social and Behavioral Sciences; and Daniel Baiyeshea from the College of Business, Engineering, and Computational and Mathematical Sciences.
