Monday, May 6, 2024 Joshua Dale Smith, 33 of Keyser, WV was arrested as a Fugitive of Justice due to being wanted by Mineral County WV for a Domestic Assault. He is being held on a Detainer at the Allegany County Detention Center. Andrew Wayne Dawson, 39 of Keyser WV, was served a District Court Arrest Warrant. His original charges: Home Invasion, Burglary-4th Degree-Dwelling, Assault-2nd Degree, and Disturbing The Peace. He was released on a $7,500 bond. There is a crash scene in front of Cracker Barrel restaurant on Vocke Road. Reports indicate on vehicle on its side and one straddling the drainage ditch. Emergency crews are on the scene.

Update at 8:45AM… I68 in Cumberland, area of 43 MM has been reopened. Units are clearing at this time   Interstate 68 eastbound remains closed as well as one lane of westbound traffic. Motorists are urged to use Alternate Route 40 as a detour as traffic on the west side of Cumberland is heavily affected and backed up. This includes avoiding Braddock Road and Greene St areas as the Baltimore St bridge is closed for repairs. 

On Monday, May 6, 2024 at approximately 1:05 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business on Virginia Avenue for a trespassing complaint.  Police contacted the staff who reported that Tyler Westfall stole merchandise and left the store.  Westfall had been told not to return to the store earlier in the day.  Officers located Westfall and placed him under arrest.  Westfall was transported to police headquarters and issued two criminal citations.  He was then released pending trial. On Monday, May 6, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on David Miller.  The summons was issued as the result of a private citizen filing for charges against Miller at the District Court of Allegany County.  Miller signed for his copy of the summons and he was released pending trial. On Monday, May 6, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Jesus Morales.  The warrant was issued as the result of Morales failing to appear in court.  He was originally charged with driving without a license.  Morales was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and released on his personal recognizance. Another Democrat has suspended his campaign for the Sixth District Congressional seat.  Peter Choharis (Co-harris) who has an international legal firm, entered the race in February.
