Will Creek Museum Grand Opening Saturday
The area’s newest museum will be holding its grand opening this weekend. The Wills Creek Museum at 28 Washington Street is located in the historic Hoye House, one of the oldest structures in Cumberland. Moore Gives Update on Progress of FSK Bridge Cleanup
Four weeks ago the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed in to the Patapsco River, resulting in the loss of life for six construction workers. The state of Maryland and the Federal government have jumped into action to clear the major shipping channel, recover the bodies of the victims, and make plans to rebuild. St. Mary’s Avenue CDS Arrest
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at approximately 11:31 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department stopped a vehicle in the area of St. Mary’s Avenue and Caroline Street. Two occupants of the vehicle were identified as Joshua Hoenicka and Jesse Short. A Police K-9 was utilized which resulted in a positive alert for the odor of drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and occupants were conducted. Hoenicka and Short were found to be in possession of suspected crack cocaine. Second Street Assault Arrest
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at approximately 7:31 PM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to the 600 block of E. Second Street for an assault in progress. Police arrived and observed Desirae Washington and Kiyah Harley actively assaulting each other. A large crowd had gathered to observe the disturbance. Police also learned that Harley had an active bench warrant for her arrest. The warrant was issued as the result of Harley failing to appear in court. Industrial Blvd CDS Arrest
On Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at approximately 2:22 PM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department stopped a vehicle on E. Industrial Blvd. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Christopher Beeghly and Lauren Finan. A Police K-9 was utilized which resulted in a positive alert for the odor of drugs in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted. On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Angela Dennison. The summons was issued as the result of an incident that occurred on April 3, 2024. On this date at approximately 11:13 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 700 block of Park Street for a theft. Police contacted the staff who reported that the suspect stole various items and left the store. After further investigation, a suspect was developed and identified as Angela Dennison. A long-time reporter for National Public Radio has now resigned after being given a 5-day suspension for an essay he wrote criticizing the organization.
