West Virginia Ready to Fill Potholes

With the end of winter and warm weather on the horizon, the West Virginia Division of Highways (WVDOH) and its partners in the asphalt industry are getting ready to fight the annual springtime war on potholes.  Relatively mild winters the past several years have allowed asphalt plants to open early, letting the state get a jump start on patching potholes. This winter is different, where a series of winter storms and lingering cold weather have put hot asphalt production on hold.

Trout Season Opening Soon

Maryland trout season begins March 29.  The Maryland Department of Natural Resources is hosting its second annual Youth-Only Trout Fishing Day on March 22, where anglers ages 16 and under can keep up to two fish at designated areas before the official season begins.

***Adult Arrest*** On Friday, March 7th, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Roger Louis Johnson, 48, of Cumberland MD. Johnson was arrested on an active Bench Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court on January 8th, 2025. The warrant alleged Johnson failed to appear in court on that date for a previous charge of knowingly driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle. He was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. Johnson is currently being held on a temporary commitment. Paving Plans For Cumberland

Mayor Ray Morris told WCBC News that the city is preparing a plan for spring and summer paving. Baltimore Harbor Could be Losing Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean has announced it will continue to sail out of Baltimore through 2026, but is then going to relocate to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  In 2023, nearly a half-million people sailed out of the Port of Baltimore.

CRIMINAL SUMMONS SERVED

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a criminal summons on Jacob Haines.  The summons was issued as the result of a private citizen filing for charges against Haines at the District Court of Allegany County.  Haines signed for his copy of the summons and he was released pending trial. BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On Thursday, March 6, 2025, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Alan Young.  The warrant was issued as the result of Young violating probation on an original charge of Assault-2nd Degree.  Young was arrested and transported to Central Booking.  He was later seen by a District Court Commissioner and remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $500 bond.
