Allegany County Emergency Services responding to a working apartment fire in Rawlings, 18,000 block McMullen Highway, Route 220 currently shut down in support of fire operations. Update 6:55AM. One patient being treated for smoke inhalation, Fire command reporting building will be a total loss… American Red Cross requested to the scene.

Race Street Assault Arrest

On November 2nd, 2023 at approximately 5:56 p.m., officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to Race Street for a complaint of destruction of property. Officers contacted Steven Richard White who advised that someone he resides with destroyed his belongings. Officers advised White of his rights to file charges at District Court and then attempted to clear the scene. Prior to leaving the scene, officers were alerted to a loud disturbance coming from inside the residence, White had entered. An officer was advised by a victim that White had struck them in the face. ARREST WARRANT SERVED

On November 2nd, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served an arrest warrant on Jacob Allen Kasecamp. The arrest warrant was issued as a result of Kasecamp failing to comply with terms of a pre- trial release order. In addition to Kasecamp’s arrest warrant, he was served an active bench warrant for failing to comply with terms of pre-trial release orders for original charges of malicious destruction of property under $1,000 and disturbing the peace. BENCH WARRANT SERVED

On November 2nd, 2023, the Cumberland Police Department served a bench warrant on Dolphin Ricardo Smith. The bench warrant was issued as a result of Smith violating terms of probation. When officers attempted to identify Smith, he provided a false name and received additional charges for providing the false name to avoid prosecution. Smith was placed under arrest and transported to Central Booking where he is currently awaiting a bond hearing. WVTutor Program Available Online

West Virginia residents have access to a new online program that will deliver expert tutoring and homework services.  TUTORWV provides live and self-guided tutoring that includes test-prep for S-A-T and A-C-T testing as well as pre-med and pre-law entrance exams. Time To Turn Back

Daylight Savings Time ends this Sunday, November 5th.  That means those clocks have to be turned back an hour, although it happens automatically with most devices nowadays.  Across the country, there is still a move to do away with the clock change and even the American Medical Association says the time switch in the Spring causes an increased risk of heart problems, mood disorders and car crashes.  Florida Senator Marco Rubio introduced legislation to make Daylight Savings Time permanent…

Maryland Service Year Program Launches

ParkMobile Available in Cumberland

Parking in downtown Cumberland may be a little easier now, thanks to a new contactless payment option.  The City has partnered with ParkMobile, a mobile parking app that shoppers can download to their phones.  The app allows drivers to park, pay, and extend parking sessions without returning to their vehicle. County Will Purchase Former FedEx Building
