Oldtown Road CDS Arrest
On Friday, September 29, 2023 at approximately 10:02 AM, an officer of the Cumberland Police Department conducted a traffic stop on E. Oldtown Rd. at Wempe Drive. The officer contacted the operator who was traveling with two passengers. The officer learned that the rear passenger provided him with a false name to avoid apprehension. This passenger’s true identity was Amber Westfall and the officer confirmed that she had an active bench warrant for her arrest. Queen City Bar-Athalon, a new event concept created by Mezzos owner Dan Bowser, will take place at noon today in downtown Cumberland. It has been confirmed that AES Warrior Run will cease coal-powered production as of June 2024. WCBC spoke to Allegany County Commissioner Bill Atkinson this week after rumors circulated that the plant was closing next May. An email from plant manager Matt Ottaviani to Commissioner Atkinson states that the plant will cease coal production June 1, 2024 but no decision has been made to retire the unit.
